Carpenter ants are big black ants that live in rotted wood cavities, under rocks or in dead tree stumps. They do not eat wood but will chew out cavities throughout the wood to use as nesting chambers and travel routes.
Carpenter ants are unsightly and no one wants to see them inside their home. Plus…if left untreated, a carpenter ant colony can do damage to the structure by hollowing our timbers and framing.
